Rebuttal To: Are Christians Responsible?

Christian History

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

Hosea 4:6

Jim & Barb

Hi Friends!

What I said I was going to address this time, I’m putting off to next time, because a theology professor friend of mine wrote back rebutting what I last wrote in the Christian History – Opinion Poll Results. I appreciated hearing what he said, and he may be right, or may not have understood exactly what I was trying to say. Regardless, I thought you would find profitable my response regarding: “Are Christians responsible for the degenerate state of our nation?” As you know, I answered – Biblically, I believe we Christians are fully responsible. He wrote back in red, and my response is in black:

But Jim, Abraham was not responsible for the degradation of Sodom. No, of course not. Abraham did not live in the city-state of Sodom. However, we see God was determining whether to destroy Sodom ONLY based on how many righteous people were in the city-state. This shows God clearly deals with city-states/nations, in one way or another, based solely on His children, as would a human father. Actually, Sodom dramatically demonstrates what I have been declaring.

God only destroyed the city-state Sodom because after many years Lot and his family affected NO ONE in the city as it became more immoral. The homosexuals of Sodom did not have the responsibility, nor could they have, to affect the city or anyone in the city for righteousness. Only Lot and his family knew God and had the ability and responsibility to have others know and follow the Lord. But Lot did nothing, affecting no one, whereby his city only grew more evil. So God finally destroyed the immoral city-state and Lot fled for his life, losing his wife, his house, and everything else. Lot’s wife loved the unrighteous city-state so much, while fleeing she looked back… and she turned into a pillar of salt (Gen 18-19). Lot is a biblical scary example of the eventual judgment of God to an immoral city-state where God’s people did nothing to change anything. Today, Lot and his wife would be identified with the live-for-self, do-nothing “carnal” Christians, as their nation becomes a Sodom.

Elijah and the 7000 prophets that didn’t bow the knee to Baal were not “responsible” for the apostasy of Ahab! True, the 7000 prophets were not responsible for Ahab’s personal apostasy. But they were responsible to the Lord to do what they could to not let an unrighteous Ahab be their ruler in the first place, whereas “100 prophets” were cowards “hiding in caves” (1Kings 18:13).

But you may have missed the point. It was not just prophets that were responsible to follow God’s Law and have godly rulers for themselves, but all God’s people (all Israelites) were responsible to see to it they have godly rulers (Deut.1:13). In Israel, all men 20 years old and older were in the army, and “they chose” ungodly Omri to be their king and Ahab his son (1Kings 16:16 & 28). God’s people were responsible for who they chose in choosing ungodly Ahab.

This is applicable today for Christians to vote and choose godly rulers. But today, over half the Christians in America don’t even vote, or choose anyone, letting the ungodly vote for their own to rule us. And the minority of Christians that do vote, about 20% vote for the least biblical person. We’re reaping what we’re sowing, or not sowing at all.

Regardless of the political system of any nation, no ungodly ruler can exist without a critical mass of citizens allowing it. In the United States, if only a majority of Christians would follow God’s Law – instructed to “to choose” (to vote), and for wise godly leaders – there would literally be no ungodly leaders from government to school boards. You are to choose out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these to be rulers” (Ex. 18:21).

I fear we have too many cowardly pastors and Christians today hiding in their church caves… not obeying in resisting wicked rulers –Those who forsake the Law praise the wicked, but those who keep the Law resist them” (Prov. 28:4).

The “remnant” was not responsible for the “fall of Israel” in 586BC. That’s the point, there was only a small remnant of God’s people that were faithful, most of God’s people (the Jews) were not faithful and therefore the fall of their nation. For America to not fall, the small faithful remnant of God’s people today better increase and do more than hide in church caves… or American will fall, reaping the same.

Jesus did not blame the disciples for the corruption of Rome No Jesus did not, because the nation of Israel, where the disciples lived, was not Rome. But Jesus did train His disciples how to eventually conquer Rome for the Kingdom of God, which they finally overwhelmingly did… climaxing with the Christian emperor, Constantine the Great in A.D. 324! Contrary to how secular historians have worked to distort Christian Constantine and that glorious time of Christian history, not Constantine but the Christians called Constantine Great, for all he did for Christians and the Kingdom of God.

Jesus didn’t blame the disciples for the corruption of the Sanhedrin. No, but Jesus was raising up a whole new remnant of disciples, commanded to “go make disciples of all the nations” (Mat. 28:19), as in civil governments, which they eventually did one nation after another. [You can read much about this in previous Christian History in www.JimsBookstore.com.] But Jesus did condemn all the unfaithful chosen people of God, Jewish Pharisees, who were the corrupt civil leaders of the Sanhedrin, the civil “seat of Moses” (Mat. 23:2ff).

To put the blame for America’s fall on true Christians is offensive and lays unnecessary guilt upon His “little flock.” Yes, I agree…  unless we are guilty! With what I’m referencing here and in much previous Christian History, I think many Scriptures indict us “lukewarm” Christians, as being quite responsible. If so, as Jesus said, “Blessed is the one who is not offended by me” (Mat. 11:6). And maybe as Peter said, The time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God” (1Peter 4:17).

“Ye” (true Christian disciples) are the salt of the earth.” True Christians are part of the remedy, NOT THE PROBLEM! You’re making my point. But true Christian disciples are NOT “part of the remedy”, they are the only remedy. Isn’t that exactly what Jesus said – only genuine Christians are the salt of the earth; there are no others! And then Jesus said, “But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot” (Mat. 5:13). Haven’t Christians in America today been “thrown out and trampled underfoot”? What Jesus said is exactly what is happening.

Jesus then also said to true Christian disciples, You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bushel. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone” (Mat. 5:14-15). ONLY true Christians can light the world and they alone therefore carry the only and full responsibility to accomplish this. We have put the Christian Light under a bushel… in the church cave. We no longer seem to light any city on any hill, much less the world.

God forgive us. But for His sake, not to speak of for our own sake, our children’s sake, and our children’s children sake, may our remnant increase, and may we come out of our church caves. Would that pastors realize our final hour, our desperate times, like David’s 200 leaders – “Men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what God’s people should do” (1Chron. 12:32). Would that spiritual leaders lead our congregations of 100’s or 1000’s onto the streets, into the schools, into the halls of government declaring Jesus as our King and His Law-Word alone to rule… before it’s too late. The Leftist social justice “churches” have been doing this in mass against our King and His Word for years. Our time is about up.

If this seems too radical, look at what the wicked are doing every day everywhere. Dare we be less “fools for Christ” (1Cor. 4:10) … than they are for wickedness?

Committed to “fight the good fight”,
